Catholic Medals

Catholic Medals
Buying medals on okay is fun and instructional. The purpose of this guide is to introduce the most efficient method to search for, and purchasemedals.
Medals can be purchased individually, or in lots from 2 each to hundreds of medals.
To search for individual medals, type "medal", not medals, in the search box. If you enter "Catholic medal" the selection is much smaller than if you use "medal". Once you have entered "medal", then you'll be directed to a category page, where you can select "Religions, Spirituality", this selection gets you the largest selection from which to choose.
Then the fun starts! A lot of the people selling on okay are very knowledgeable about the items they sell. Many listing for medals, tell you the history of the Saint, what they represent, or the groups for which they are the Patron Saints. Some don't, but that information is available on the web.
Medals vary from new to vintage. There are literally thousands from which to choose. Be sure to look through quite a few pages, there is usually more than 1 medal of the same kind listed. If you are looking for a specific Saint, type that Saints name into the search box, for example, type in "Saint Therese medal" and your selection will be limited to just the St. Therese medals available. Remember that you'll get a different selection if you use "St." versus "Saint", so try both spellings. Some Saints are also known by more than one spelling, "Therese" versus "Theresa", so try both spellings.
Remember that most of the vintage medals have not been cleaned and are sold in an "as is" condition. Some have quite a bit of wear from prayer over the years, but that's why medals are made!
Shipping is usually quite inexpensive on medals, usually only a dollar or two for individual medals, depending on if the seller and the buyer are in the same country. Many medals listed are from countries other than the United States.
Collecting Catholic medals is fun and a usually inexpensive hobby, some medals sell for a dollar or less, but the more rare medals can be a little expensive. okay has opened up this hobby to the public, where else can you find thousands of medals listed in one spot??
