Listing 35mm Film Camera Manual Focus Lenses

The manufacturers of 35mm cameras all used a proprietary lens mount. This means that a lens designed for a Nikon will only fit a Nikon, a lens designed for a Minolta will only fit a Minolta, a lens designed for a Canon will only fit a Canon, etc. Therefore, before listing a lens, you must know what camera mountit is designed for.
You alsomust consider the advent of Auto Focus (AF). Unfortunately, most manufacturers changed their lens mounts when they switched to AF lenses. Thus, a Minolta AF lens will not mount to Minolta cameras such as the SRT or X Series. (SRT-100, 101, 102, 200, 201, 202, X-1, X-7, XD-11, X-700, etc.). If your lens is an AF lens you will need to check with the camera manufacturer or a local camera shop to determine if it is gepatible with older cameras from that manufacturer.
Once this is determined your listing should:

List the manufacturer's name first: Vivitar or Soligor or Canon or Minolta or Nikon, etc.
List the focal length of your lens: 24mm, 35mm, 100mm, 28-105mm zoom, etc.
List any accessories such as a lens hood, case, etc.
List the camera your lens will mount on.
A typical Item description would look thus:
ITEM: Vivitar 75-205mm zoom lens w/hood for Minolta MC/MD mount cameras
By listing as shown you are telling those who only want Original Manufacturer lenses that your lens is an after-market lens. If you were to list the above example as "Minolta 75-205mm zoom lens" it could be considered misleading since its really a Vivitar lens for Minolta.
Following these simple steps and doing the necessary research will improve your success on okay and keep geplaints and problems to a minimum.
