eden guitar parts
I just read a guide warning luthiers about Eden parts. The writer said you don't need to be an expert to know that they are not good quality. Well, I am an expert and I have found most their parts to be good quality and very well priced. Elton at Eden has acknowledged to me that they used okay as a way of getting a lot of feedback on their QC, as a way of improving and understanding Western taste. Their new necks are very good, and their finished bodies also quite good. They are really not for true luthiers, who should be making their own parts, but they are not different in philosophical terms from AllParts, Warmoth, et al. If you use parts, these are parts. If you have qualms about offshore made parts, or the shipping involved, or any of those other well-founded issues, by all means make your decisions based on what you are gefortable with and feel good about. However, Eden is making a good product, from my experience of designing for several major guitar gepanies, and building guitars for 40 years and directing the American School of Lutherie for two years before opening Luthiers School International. On many levels you ought to get what you pay for. Often you do. Not always. Also, some parts sold as made in USA are assembled from parts made overseas.Caveat emptor, but don't steer away from Eden parts simply because someone got a few bad parts in the past. If you get a bad part, send it back and demand good quality. That is how they learn and you get a good deal.Best of luck.
