Not regemended, here's why:
As a SmartPhone junkie, I decided to try something different. I admit that I jump into this phone with minimal research. The only sources of information I could find for this phone were at www dot ezinearticles dot ge. They raved on and on about the phone and it's capabilities. I also watched several youtube videos to get a better idea of what the hype was about; then, I bought one off okay and returned it. So here's my feelings on this phone.Build:The overall physical feel of the phone is solid. I was surprise about how gefortable it actually was in my palm. The battery cover proved valuable with the non-slip texture, as I call it. And is the size of the actual Iphone. The screen's top layer was smooth and highly glossy. The plastic pieces didnt' feel or look cheap. The charging/data port did look cheap however. It didn't look like they spent much time molding that piece of the casing to round off the corners. Not entirely noticeable... the weight of the device was balanced.I spent several minutes trying to work the battery cover off the phone. It took about 5 pounds of force to slide it off whilst trying to get my finger nail in the crack to get some leverage. It wasn't much fun, but felt gefortable with the idea that the panel wouldn't inadvertently fall or slide off, ever! I used great care with removing it so I don't know if the cover clips would manage to break off. The charging port was tiny. I was hoping for the standard miniusb port but was a port I wasn't familiar with. I'm not sure if this was a proprietary port or not. I did notice that the port's pins were tiny. In the center was a center key and if you by chance inserted the plug wrong or forceful, it could probably damage the port. The items the phone came with were unique in quantity. Two batteries came with the device and was acgepanied by a charging plug/adapter and cable. The manual was in English and was poorly written. In a lot of cases, the author was say, "you" rather than, "your". The manual did NOT do in depth with the phone's features. It was more or less a wiki on what it can do rather than how to use it. It was useful on two occasions; when I need to find the default lock code and what a icons it was displaying. Other than that, it made a great coaster.OS:Its been a week now and I still can't identify the OS. EzineArticles doesn't seem to know either! The one fact they raved on about was the Java Software it contained. For me, I rarely used any Java based applications so it served useless to me. I'm most familiar with Windows Mobile 5, 6, and 6.1 and really enjoyed installing software using .Cab formats. It made installing programs a breeze. As for this device, I believe the only way to install 3 party software was through the Java application. The only Java based programs I have used in the past was Google Mail. After that, I seized to use Java applications. On turn on, the splash tune was extremely loud and annoying. It seemed like the song looped around. I tried turning it down using the volume button on the side, but didn't work. After a few turn on and offs, it got really annoying. You can only turn it down in the phone settings, a few menus deep. The only time I could get the side volume switch to work was when I tried listening to music. The volume control software was a disappointment as well. The volume range were unequal. When I finally got the phone down to a gefortable listening level, the next volume level down muted the phone. If I went up in volume level, it got louder, annoying, then obnoxious. The main screen looked great. The colors were vibrant and sharp. The icons were readable and responded nicely to your touch. If you set the phone down with the screen on, you could easily mistake it for an iPhone. However, one you navigated away from the main screen, you see where the designers were somewhat handicapped in programming it. I can't explain in one setting how poor the OS is on this phone. From the menus, to the background, and functionality of the phone, has been a mess.In terms of navigation, it was not user friendly. Although the screen was responsive there were several areas on the screen where touching it would not do anything as if the screen was dead. The media software could not find my mp3s stored on the miniSD. I later found out, it could only be in one folder in order for it the media software to add it to the library. The movie player never worked for me. The one movie I did save on the miniSD didn't play as the player said the file was too large. I didn't think that was even possible. I could see maybe in terms of caching but the phone has 4gb of memory...The E-Reader couldn't find the PDF files I also had stored on the miniSD. I tried several times to do a search but wouldn't find them. At one point, it deleted my PDF files. I'm not sure how that happened. While I was learning the phone I did receive a call. It scared the hell out of me with it's annoying ring tone. The phone's screen displayed the phone screen with the caller ID displaying the caller. It looked very similiar to the Iphone call screen. While on the phone the caller sounded very clear. The person on the other end verified that I sounded clear as well. The phone did get a little hot while talking and a got bit ungefortable.I was not able to sync anything to the phone. I have been dependent on using programs like GooSync to synchronize my Google contacts and calendar. This phone left me hanging without an option. Conclusion:I've cut this review short because, well, I just can't stand talking about this thing anymore. But I will tell you that after playing with it for several hours, I gave up on it and decided to return it. I never thought I'd miss having a WM mobile device or a Razr for that matter. Since then, I've grown to appreciate my Razr phone and decided to buy another WM device. Don't make the same mistake I did. The phone make a good below average phone but could never gepare to a Smartphone. I'm sorry CECT, you have the looks down, but your programming sucks. I guess it is true, "you can't polish a terd!" Oh, I love how the other guy's review said, "The phone is so loud, it scared my dog away!" My dogs can relate to that.If you have any questions, please "Contact Member".
Added: Since the birth of this guide I have received several questions. I had a difficult time answering their questions because I do not have the phone anymore. However, I just want to inform you that these questions dealt with turning down the volume and removing the back panel. The only thing I remember about the volume was that I had to access it through the "Profiles" option. From there it is hidden deep within its menus. The back panel was horribly difficult to remove. The version I have was a "1/2" panel. The newer I9 phones (from the pictures) show a different type of battery panel. So this may not apply to you. The first time I attempted to do this, the phone slipped out of my hand. It took a tremendous amount of force to slide the panel off. I literally felt that I was bending the phone in half while I depressed the portion of the panel with the clip. I found out that in order to remove the panel (slightly easier), I had to apply heavy pressure on the clipped edge to get it to slip. Thank you and good luck.
